Measuring Your Communications with PoliteMail: IABC World Conference

This week we’re attending the 45th Annual International Association of Business Communicators World Conference in beautiful San Francisco, California! We’ve met a ton of wonderful business communicators from around the world who are eager to learn more about communicating.

The conference welcome session began with keynote speaker Sally Hogshead who encouraged all in attendance to discover yourself through the science of fascination. Sally encourages us all to “stand out in a massively distracted world” a great way to open up the start of the conference and encourage all to learn from each other.

On Monday our managing partner Michael DesRochers presented at the mini-theater in The Hub and shared some interesting data with IABC members and attendees. Keep an eye out for that information as we should be posting the data to our blog or website very soon! Did you know that your message is most likely to be read within four hours of sending? You may want to keep that in mind when sending out that 4pm employee newsletter!

Later that evening we attended the IABC Gold Quill Awards Gala where many of the attendees were recognized for their outstanding efforts and advances in the communications industry. To see a full list of Gold Quill Awards winners please visit the IABC website.

Tuesday began with a light breakfast in the Hub where we were able to meet and connect with more communicators. Later that day we attended the IABC Foundation Luncheon where keynote speaker Peter Penny shared with us his emotional stores of success and hardship. Peter challenged us all to be the best we can everyday, and accomplish our goals sooner than later “If not now, when?” Take action towards your future and strive to be the best you can be.

Later in the afternoon attendees gathered in The Hub to celebrate IABC’s 45th Sapphire Anniversary. Cake and refreshments were served and the winners of the prizes announced. Congratulations to Susan Otten who won a Fitbit HR donated by PoliteMail. Keep your eyes out for an email from us as next week we will be announcing the winner of a second Fitbit attendees had the chance to win at the PoliteMail booth!

Overall we believe the conference was a huge success to all who attended and participated. Thank you to all who stopped by to say hello and connect with us! Armed with the tools and knowledge to measure and improve their communication we wish all communicators the best and hope to see you next year in New Orleans!
